A Volunteer's Letter of Thanks

We are so grateful to each and every person that volunteers their time to serving the families of the Ronald McDonald House of Dallas. We received a letter recently from a volunteer group that serves as a great reminder of how, when you focus on serving others, you can receive as much as you give.

Take a minute to read this letter of thanks from an amazing group of people.

We just wanted to say thank you for the opportunity to be able to prepare lunch for the RMH Dallas.

We certainly felt blessed to be able to touch a small portion of a family’s life in such a simple manner. It has always been a rewarding experience for me to come into a Ronald McDonald House and just by preparing a meal, I knew I had taken care of one simple thing that a mother, father or family member of a sick little one did not have to worry about that day. We had several families ask us if we had really driven all the way up from Waco just to prepare their lunch and we assured them that it was worth every minute of the 90 minute ride up to do something for them.

We even met an associate from one of our Cargill plants in Plainview whose grandson was receiving care. He was very appreciative of the fact that Cargill associates cared so much to get out in not only their community but sometimes even further away from their “home”.

Families at the house were truly every bit of the word FAMILY. In amongst what I would imagine to be the hardest and scariest moments of their lives, they were truly blessed to be with family and showed it in so many ways –through love, laughter, and how they care for one another.

Thank you again and we look forward to volunteering again in 2012.
