In 2010 . . .

2055 families were served - twice the number of families as in 2009.

1,873 donors gave 2,485 cash gifts.

385 donors gave 873 in-kind gifts.

120 weekly volunteers donated 18,720 hours of their time.

A Word from our CEO, Jill Cumnock

Jill_eNews

What an exciting time to be at the Ronald McDonald House of Dallas as we celebrate our 30th year of providing a home-away-from-home to thousands of families each year. The Ronald McDonald House of Dallas is not only a wonderful place for families of seriously ill or injured children to spend their time, it is also a special place for employees and volunteers to spend their time. I feel very fortunate and honored to have been given this opportunity to become a part of the RMHD family.

In my first three months at the house, I have been so impressed by the strength and optimism of our families, by the long-term commitment and involvement of our volunteers and board members, and by the professionalism and dedication of our employees. The Ronald McDonald House of Dallas truly attracts the best of the best and it appears that once people walk in the doors, they are quickly touched by our mission and want to stay and be a part of making our families time here as stress free and comforting as possible.

I look forward to many years of working at RMHD, getting to know those that support the house, and serving our families.

A Very Special Donation

 Camille_LaRue

Camille LaRue is a typical nine year old girl from Prosper, Texas who has a yellow belt in Taekwondo and likes to sing and play piano. What makes her special is her appreciation for all the blessings in her life and her heart for others. Recently she took it upon herself to knock on her neighbor's doors and raise money for the Ronald McDonald House of Dallas. We received her check for $14.00 along with the following note from her mom!

"I have enclosed a check from my 9 year old daughter, Camille. She has constantly been concerned for those in our community that don't have as much as she does. The funds she raised amount to $14.00, which she raised solely on her own and by her own conviction. I hope and pray this small donation will be accepted and I am hoping this is just the first of many more donations from Camille as she grows and matures and as her understanding increases. She has a compassionate heart and this is her way of sharing her time and money to the cause she wanted to support, The Ronald McDonald House. Thank you for all your organization does."

The Princess Alexa Foundation Hosts a Valentines Party for Our Families

Princess Alexa 5

This year the party was on February 13 and there was face painting, crafts, food, entertainment -- and of course, plenty of dress up clothes. Each child received a costume to keep. And Princess Alexa replenished our dress up closet in the playroom. Everyone had a fabulous time! Check out our recent blog post to see more photos from this event.

Please check out their website to learn more about their mission. Thank you to everyone who helped with the party!
